Anna R. Smith, DMD
Anna Smith grew up in rural east Texas. Her father was a preacher and her mom was a bookkeeper. She was always very active in her church and organizations like Girl Scouts and 4H. Her parents encouraged her to study and make good grades. Anna always enjoyed school and excelled in every subject, except spelling. Anna especially loved science and dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. However, that all changed when she observed a veterinarian over spring break in high school. She didn’t have the heart to watch animals being put to sleep and began seeking a profession to better suit her personality. She decided that dentistry would be a good match. The more she learned about dentistry the more she became attracted to the field.
Anna completed high school in three years and then moved to Illinois. Her good grades paid off and she received many scholarships to help fund her undergraduate and graduate degrees. To keep debt to a minimum she worked her way through school by having part-time jobs as a photographer, cake decorator, mail carrier, housekeeper, and grocery store clerk. She attended Southern Illinois University- Edwardsville from 1997-2000 and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. She majored in Medical Science and minored in Psychology. In 2004 she graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in Alton, Illinois with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree.
Immediately after graduation Dr. Smith began her dental career at Dentistry With TLC. It’s very unusual for a dentist to work in only one office for her entire career as Dr. Smith has done. She and her husband, Travis, purchased Dentistry With TLC in 2007 and began transforming it into the dental powerhouse of the St. Louis area.
Dr. Smith loves dentistry and is constantly learning new things. She was awarded “Top Doctor” in 2011-2012 of all the Fastbraces dentists worldwide and has trained dentists at “Fastbraces University” in Dallas, Texas. She provides more SomnoMed sleep appliances than any dentist in North America. She is one of only four dentists worldwide to achieve “Sapphire Partner” status for her dedication to helping patients eliminate their CPAP.
Other dentists are often fascinated by Dr. Smith, her husband Travis, and their successful practice. In 2009 Dr. Smith and Travis began helping other dentists improve their own practices. Dr. Smith frequently has other dentists from the United States and Canada visit her office in Godfrey to observe and learn from her techniques. Dr. Smith enjoys helping other dentists improve their skills and provide better care for their patients.
Anna and Travis have a small farm in southeastern Illinois, about three hours from Godfrey. They grow corn, soybeans, and wheat. Their weekends in the spring and fall are busy with trips to the farm. Dr. Smith prefers fall at the farm because sometimes she gets to operate the John Deere combine and harvest corn. One day they hope to retire and live on the farm near Omaha, Illinois.
Anna enjoys cooking, especially baking. She also likes scrapbooking and redecorating. The apple-of-her-eye is her dog, Charley. She adopted him from a local animal shelter in 2008. He looks like a black Lab, but has short legs and big paws like a Basset Hound. She keeps a picture of Charley in the reception area at Dentistry With TLC.
In September of 2016, Dr. Smith and Travis welcomed a baby girl named Liberty. She has brought them more joy than anything or anyone, ever. She is a blonde-headed, blue-eyed sweetheart who is on pace to be six feet tall, just like her Mom.

Meagan E. Graul, DMD
Meagan is the oldest of three children and grew up in Belleville, IL. Her father is a superintendent for a family owned construction company and her mother is a pharmacist at the Jefferson Barracks VA Hospital. Meagan has been a care taker since the day her younger sister was born. She has always had the willingness to help others which has continued throughout her life. Meagan decided in grade school that dentistry would be her career path and she has followed that dream ever since. She has always known she wanted to be a part of the medical health field but just didn't feel that a family physician or surgeon was the correct path for her personality. Dentistry allows her to have a closer relationship with her patients. Meagan is a very big people person and enjoys getting to know her patients and their families.
Meagan has always been a doer! In high school she took a full course load of honors classes and maintained high grades in her academics while also playing sports full time. She played soccer all year round, tennis, and was even on the bowling team for a year. After high school Meagan knew she wanted to go away for college to see what more she could accomplish on her own. In 2003, Meagan began her undergraduate degree at Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, IL near Chicago. How Meagan ended up in Chicago is still a mystery because she is not a fan of the cold weather! While attending Elmhurst College Meagan worked in the admissions office on campus, at Applebee’s, at a small Italian restaurant as a waitress and babysat for a couple local families. She was also very involved with her Sorority, Alpha Phi. Meagan played soccer all four years at Elmhurst and graduated with majors in Business and Biology.
Meagan began Dental school in 2008 at SIU School of Dental Medicine in Alton and graduated in 2012. In 2015 Dr. Meagan began working part time at Dentistry with TLC and transitioned to full time in 2016. Dr. Meagan loves her job and is always continuing to learn more about the dental field. She enjoys keeping up with new technology by attending continuing education courses on various dental topics. Dr. Meagan maintains great friendships with many dentists and is an active member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Illinois State Dental Society, St. Clair Dental Society, Delta Sigma Delta Fraternity, and is a member of the General Practice Study Club.
Dr. Meagan is very close to her family which is why she decided to move home after college. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and two wonderful kiddos. She could be described as country sheek. Her family owns a farm with cows, horses, ducks and chickens. She doesn't mind rolling up her sleeves and getting dirty, but she also enjoys a nice set of pearls! Dr. Meagan is a huge animal lover and would be lost without her 6 family dogs. She likes to be active, play sports, fish, hunt, arts and crafts, traveling, games and acting goofy.

I like being the general manager at Dentistry With TLC because we have the best group of employees of any dental practice I’ve helped across the entire country.
I was the first patient Dr. Smith made a sleep apnea appliance for way back in 2009. I’m the man on our radio and TV commercials who says “That CPAP Sucks!” One of the most rewarding parts of my job is talking with patients who decided to come to the office after hearing my commercial. It’s wonderful knowing they live happier lives now that they no longer need to use a CPAP. I love knowing my experience has helped thousands of people.
One thing I’ve learned after working with many different dentists is that some dentists don’t like dentistry. Dr. Smith and Dr. Meagan are different. They love dentistry. They always want to learn new techniques and offer a full range of services to our patients because they love improving themselves and helping people. I like being the general manager at Dentistry With TLC because we have the best group of employees of any dental practice I’ve helped across the entire country.
Dr. Smith is my wife. In September of 2016 we had the most wonderful baby girl named Liberty Aline. We also have a grain farm near Ridgway, Illinois. In the spring I can be found on a tractor and in the fall on a combine. In our free time Anna and I enjoy going to University of Illinois events. I was a walk-on for the Flyin’ Illini in 1989 and I earned a basketball scholarship in 1990, my senior year at the University of Illinois. I enjoy going to basketball reunions and catching up with guys from the old team.
My favorite memories at work are the times spent with my crazy co-workers. We know how to work hard and still have fun! I chose a career as a hygienist because I was interested in healthcare and there was a lot of flexibility and opportunity for a working mother. I have three kids and two grandchildren that I love to spend time with and brag about.
I love helping patients get the smile they’ve always wanted. I’ve had many patients over the years who were very self-conscious about their teeth. To see them smile proudly after braces, whitening, crowns or veneers is so rewarding to me.
I never developed six of my adult teeth. Through orthodontics and implants I am now able to smile, feel confident and live a normal life. I chose dentistry as my profession because I wanted to be part of a team that can make that big of a difference in someone else’s life. I like knowing that as a hygienist I can help people keep their teeth for year and years and prevent them from needing dentures.
It’s very rewarding to help people who are afraid of coming to the dentist. I’ve had experiences where people were deathly afraid before coming to see me. After their appointment the same patients are happy and may even joke around. It’s nice being able to put people at ease so they can get the treatment they need.
I’ve been married to my beautiful wife for almost two years. We have two corgis named Cheddar and Brie. I’m originally from Dallas, Texas and like to spend my free time playing video games and working out.
I live out in the country. I enjoy spending time with my family, working out in the yard and playing with our three border collies.
I have been a dental assistant for 25 years and worked with many patients who were afraid of the dentist. It’s rewarding to me to find out how I can help a person comfortably make it through their appointment and feel less fearful at the next visit.
One of the most difficult aspects of my career is trying to educate patients about the importance of taking care of their teeth. I wish everyone understood how important it is to come to their routine cleaning and check-up appointments. At those appointments we can catch problems when they are small and the treatment is always easier and less expensive. When patients do this they have very little fear and very little work that needs to be completed.
I was always afraid of the dentist as a child and young adult. I chose a career in dental assisting because I wanted to help people feel differently than I felt and have a positive experience when coming to the dentist.
At Dentistry With TLC we help people with all types of dental problems, even sleep apnea. I enjoy helping with a lot of different procedures each day and not having to do the same thing every day.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my career is meeting a patient who has resigned themselves to suffering with sleep apnea and using a CPAP and then seeing their transformation after using an oral appliance. The oral appliance changes everything for them.
I’m married, a mom of two boys, 3 Great Danes, 5 horses and about 35 chickens. I love barrel racing and going to rodeos with my family.
I’ve been a dental assistant for twelve years. I love making my patients smile and helping them to feel good about themselves. I also love when patients make me smile. For example, one of my patients named Deborah constantly compliments me and tells me I’m doing good work. She even brought in chocolate chip cookies for everyone to let us know she appreciated us! I’m a very happy person so I enjoy being around people like Deborah who want to be happy too. She is such a sweet patient.
One of the most difficult things about being a dental assistant is trying to educate people who have had a bad experience at the dentist that things are much better now. Dentistry has come a long way in the past few years and it does not have to be painful or scary anymore. It’s important to find a dentist who will go above and beyond for anyone and even stay late to help you when needed. We do.
I am very family oriented and enjoy going to my son’s hockey games. I love being outdoors and camping, floating, barbecuing and having fun with my dog, Lucy. I’ve always enjoyed being around people and making others smile and laugh. That’s why I love dental assisting.
After working in a dental office I now know that dental procedures are not as scary as people think. I recommend finding a dentist who has lots of experience and can make your procedures easy.
I’ve been married to my wife, Ashley, for just over a year. When I’m not sterilizing dental equipment I really enjoy hiking, camping and doing anything outdoors. I’m also a big St. Louis Blues and New York Giants fan.
One thing I enjoy about my career is that I am always learning new things. I also have lots of funny memories with my coworkers. That’s one of my favorite things about my job. I don’t usually work directly with patients, but I still enjoy seeing patients happy with their new smile after they complete their dental work or Fastbraces.
I get to help people every day at Dentistry With TLC. My most rewarding memory was talking with a patient who was so happy to get her dental work completed she was crying. She had a great experience and I got to be a part of it! I love talking with all of our patients and making them feel comfortable. It’s fun knowing I’m helping them change their lives for the better.
I love watching our patients realize they no longer have to be scared of the dentist! Dr. Smith only uses the best techniques and it makes going to the dentist very easy. Patients frequently comment that their appointment was a breeze.
Outside of work you will find me doing one of two things. If it’s nice weather I love playing golf with my husband, Tommy, who is also a financial coordinator at Dentistry With TLC. If we are not golfing I am snuggled up with my dog, Zoe, and cat, Penelope, reading any book I can get my hands on.
I chose a career at Dentistry With TLC because I enjoy helping people manage their finances in order to improve their overall health. It’s rewarding to see a patient who came to the office in pain leave that same day pain free because I helped them find a way to afford the treatment they needed. This can be a challenging job at times. I enjoy the challenge on a daily basis.
When someone asks me what to look for in a dentist I tell them to choose a dentist based on the quality of their work, their professionalism and the level of customer service they require of their team. I recommend people come to Dentistry With TLC. We have the best dentists around and a professional staff who provide excellent customer service to every patient!
Insurance companies NEVER make things easy for patients and can be very difficult to deal with. It is my mission to help our patients get what they deserve from their insurance company. I am an insurance company’s worst nightmare and I LOVE it!
One of the most rewarding experiences I have had with a patient was after I filed appeal after appeal, made phone call after phone call and finally his insurance company sent him a payment. He wrote me the nicest letter thanking me for all my hard work and he bought me a treat! It was so nice knowing he appreciated me and my extra effort.
I have been married to my husband Brian for 11 years. We have two beautiful daughters, Chloe and Ella. We love St. Louis Cardinals baseball, traveling and outdoor activities like camping, fishing and boating.
Funny things can happen in a dental office. I still remember the time when there was a person of small stature at our reception window. We all thought the receptionist had called the guy “shorty” when what she had really said was “we’ll be with you shortly”.
I take pride in accomplishment and there are many challenges in my job. There is so much involved in all aspects of managing a business. I’m always busy! When I’m away from work I like reading – mostly mysteries or books on American History.
When someone tells me they are looking for a dentist I recommend looking for a dental practice that treats patients with care and compassion, offers both early and late appointments times for your convenience, that has the latest technology and treatment methods, and that offers flexible payment options. Dentistry With TLC offers all this and so much more!
I love being a receptionist at Dentistry With TLC because I get to meet new people every day. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is making appointments for new patients who have never been here before. One patient was so terrified to come to the dentist she was crying on the phone. I assured her she had nothing to be afraid of because Dr. Smith is fantastic and would be very careful. When I saw the huge smile on this patient’s face after her appointment I knew she had a great experience here. It makes me feel good to ease someone’s fears.
I was intrigued by the opportunity to work in a dental office and was sold when I came to Dentistry With TLC for my interview. We are always updating our technology and Dr. Smith is constantly finding the best possible ways to help our patients.
When I’m not at the office I love to do yoga, eat Wang Gang and marathon House of Cards with my fiancé, Cody. I have two cats and a very mis-behaved blue heeler puppy.
Family is everything to me. I enjoy being able to introduce my three kids to new things. This past summer we went to Buffalo, New York and visited Niagara. The kids loved how close we got to the falls and the Canadian border. We love to go camping and on float trips too.
I chose a career in dentistry because dentistry requires a team and I love being a part of that team. I really like to help people. It was important for me to find an office that shows they care about people from the very first contact with a patient. We are happy and excited to see our patients.
I know that sometimes it takes everything in a person just to call our office, especially when they are in pain. It’s rewarding to be the team member that helps calm them and makes their appointment so they can get the help they need. One thing I wish everyone knew about dentistry is that the six month cleaning appointments are so much more than “just a cleaning”. These appointments are when the dentist can find small problems that aren’t causing any pain. When you have small problems fixed then you’re much less likely to have pain later.
I am married with four children who keep me very busy. I am very involved with my church and church activities. I also enjoy attending and participating in a variety of athletic events. I have a degree in exercise and sports science. I have always been intrigued by the health field and I love being able to help people. It’s very fulfilling to make a difference in someone’s life.
Everyone who works at Dentistry With TLC is very personable and will treat you as if you are the only person here. When you are looking for a dentist I think it’s important to find someone who is not only knowledgeable about dentistry but who has your well-being at the forefront of their mind. I had a patient thank me over and over and over again for listening to her talk. Sometimes people just need to know someone cares. We do just that.
Being a dental assistant is rewarding because I like the feeling of satisfaction I go home with every day. I decided to be a dental assistant because I wanted a profession where I could help people and educate them. In dentistry I am able to help people feel better about their smile and educate them on their oral healthcare. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is knowing my patient made a wise decision about their dental work because I helped them understand their different options.
I have been a dental assistant for 12 years. My advice for someone looking for a dentist is to find a friendly office with people who have a great desire to provide fast and efficient treatment. At Dentistry With TLC we try to help patients very quickly.
Away from work I spend my time with my two boys and I enjoy being active in my church.
I wanted to work at Dentistry With TLC because they are in the business of helping people and I love helping people too. Not only do I get to assist patients with scheduling their appointments, but I get to be part of helping them take the first step to relieve their pain and improve their smiles. It’s common for me to schedule a patient who has never been here and is very scared of coming to the dentist, and then see that person leave after their visit with a smile on their face.
I tell people who ask me about finding a dentist that it’s important to look for someone who does it all! Find a dentist dedicated to continuing their education on the latest techniques and technology. Our doctors are constantly going above and beyond to learn new things and provide great service.
I am very close with my family. I have a wonderful sister I share a birthday with and I have a beautiful niece. I enjoy hiking, yoga, trying new restaurants, spending time with friends and reading. I also have two cats.
One of the most rewarding memories I have at work is of a patient who needed a root canal but was very scared to have it done because she thought it would be painful. We talked for a bit about how the procedure is much different now than a few years ago and that she would be numb and comfortable during the whole thing. She laughed at me when I said comfortable and told me there was absolutely no chance. Long story short, the patient fell asleep about five minutes into her root canal and snored through the whole thing!
When looking for a dentist it’s so important to find someone who really cares about you and your well-being. Here at Dentistry With TLC we never do anything that isn’t in the best interest of our patients. My work is most satisfying when I have a patient who is scared or nervous and I am able to help them through their visit and then they are no longer scared.
When I’m not at work or school I enjoy going camping, fishing, floating and hiking. I love being outdoors even if that just means playing with my two dogs.
