Anna R. Smith, DMD
Anna Smith grew up in rural east Texas where her father was a preacher and her mom was a bookkeeper. She was always very active in her church and organizations like Girl Scouts and 4-H.

Anna Smith grew up in rural, east Texas. Her father was a preacher and her mom was a book keeper. She was always very active in her church and organizations like Girl Scouts and 4H. Her parents encouraged her to study and make good grades. Anna always enjoyed school and excelled in every subject, except spelling. Anna especially loved science and dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. However, that all changed when she observed a veterinarian over spring break in high school. She didn’t have the heart to watch animals being put to sleep and began seeking a profession to better suit her personality. She decided that dentistry would be a good match. The more she learned about dentistry the more she became attracted to the field.
Anna completed high school in three years and then moved to Illinois. Her good grades paid off and she received many scholarships to help fund her undergraduate and graduate degrees. To keep debt to a minimum she worked her way through school by having part-time jobs as a photographer, cake decorator, mail carrier, house keeper and grocery store clerk. She attended Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville from 1997-2000 and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. She majored in Medical Science and minored in Psychology. In 2004 she graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in Alton, Illinois with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree.
Immediately after graduation Dr. Smith began her dental career at Dentistry With TLC. It’s very unusual for a dentist to work in only one office for her entire career as Dr. Smith has done. She purchased Dentistry With TLC in 2007.
Anna enjoys cooking, especially baking. She also likes scrapbooking and redecorating. Since 2016, most of Dr. Smith’s free time is spent taking care of and loving her daughter, Liberty. Liberty is a smart and talented blonde-headed, blue-eyed little girl who is on pace to be 6 feet tall, just like her mom.

Dental Assistant
Being a dental assistant is rewarding because I like the feeling of satisfaction I go home with every day. I decided to be a dental assistant because I wanted a profession where I could help people and educate them. In dentistry I am able to help people feel better about their smile and educate them on their oral healthcare. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is knowing my patient made a wise decision about their dental work because I helped them understand their different options.
I have been a dental assistant for 12 years. My advice for someone looking for a dentist is to find a friendly office with people who have a great desire to provide fast and efficient treatment. At Dentistry With TLC we try to help patients very quickly.
Away from work I spend my time with my two boys and I enjoy being active in my church.

I chose to be a financial coordinator because I like going the extra mile to help our patients. I pride myself on being patient-focused and helping people get the dental work they need. I love seeing smiling faces when all the work is complete.
I wish more people understood that seeing a dentist on a regular basis not only keeps your mouth and teeth healthy, but it also benefits the health of your entire body. I think many people still don’t come regularly because they are scared that it’s going to hurt. With today’s great technology, seeing a dentist is comfortable!
When I’m not working I enjoy spending time with my family. I have been married to my husband for 28 years. We have five children and several grandchildren. We all enjoy fishing on our lake, riding four wheelers and spending time outside.
